Just a few weeks back, I attended a youth conference for the Police Crime Commissioner. The event was very inspiring with over 100 young people from all diverse youth groups (United Kingdom Youth Parliament, Young Disabled Champions and Voice Is Power). Also in attendance was a great mix of current and ex police officers; some including Sir Bishop Welbley and some Police Crime Commissioner candidates.
All the young people that took part in the debate bought their passion and their voice! Some of the key ideas that young people bought up where:
- A strong relationship and bond their Police Crime Commissioner needs to have with them and their communities
- Many want a commissioner with a passion for their job, and a good understanding of community needs
- A leader that is a true representative of the community and a leader who listens to the people
Coming out from that event, it made me want to vote! I wanted to get involved and choose who will represent me and my community. If you ARE eligible and registered to vote. On November 15th who will you vote to be your Police Crime Commissioner?
Before you cast your vote, if you have any questions for candidates that are running, make sure you attend:
‘The Big Debate: Your Chance To Question Our Future Police and Crime Commissioner’.
