There is still room in the health & heritage project for local residents to get involved and join the group who are researching health in Handsworth in the past and present.
People can commit as much or as little. No experience required as the group is well supported with some new and fun ways for people to go out and capture local stories about health. If you’re interested contact Geoff by telephone on 01922 474480 or email geoff@digitalnativeacademy.com
The project group are working towards completion of research by January 2011 with a dissemination and event in February.
Please get in touch if you’re interested. We are interested in gathering stories about places in Handsworth where people may have accessed health services or memories linked to sites on the heritage walk.
I believe the health project is a good idea.
If i have the apportunity i would be interested to become a researcher.
The Health and Heritage Project sounds great especially because of its ‘flexibility’ feature. As it attracts people from all walks of life including those who are experienced and inexperienced, very much committed and vice versa, this project should draw in all sorts of hosts from all sorts of educational, cultural, religious and health backgrounds. One does wonder, however, whether or not a little break every now and then is allowed? For example, I am a full-time carer and as such I have to make arrangments with someone to ‘baby-sit’ my disabled brother. Hypothetically, if I was struggling to find a baby sitter, would I have the oppotunity to ‘postpone’ or ‘re-schedule’ my assignment for this project perhaps? If the answer is yes, then , brilliant, this project for enthusiasts like me is even better than originally thought of.Regardless, the idea is fantastic as it will cause the Handswoth commnunity to be more aware of and ‘health-concious’ shall we say for the near and distant future and for all generations.
