A really useful tool to keep track of problems and help the public and public workers communicate is

http://www.fixmystreet.com/

It makes it simple for members of the public to spot and share problems. You already use an rs feed from it on the site here. How aware are other public sector workers of this? do they encourage people to use it? Is it ok for them to use the site themselves to report if a problem has been fixed or perhaps explain why it persists?

Good luck
