Park Patrol Officer Keith Riley saved the life of an elderly park user at Handsworth Park during the icy spell.
Keith was on duty patrolling the park when he spotted a regular park user stranded in the frozen lake, he had gone into the pool to try and rescue his dog that had fallen through the ice! Keith used a life ring and rope to pull out the 74 year old man, 4 fire engines and an ambulance attended, the firemen then rescued the dog.
The man suffering from the cold and shock has made a complete recovery and is back using the park on a daily basis thanks to Keith.
